Antipati (Schweden)

Bitte erzählt den Lesern, wer sich hinter Antipati versteckt.

Antipati setzt sich aus Radar (Leadgitarre und Gesang), Robert (Gitarre und Gesang), Pelle (Bass & Gesang) und Johan (Drums) zusammen. Für unseren Lebensunterhalt arbeiten wir alle; mehr oder minder sind wir alle verheiratet (Pelle im Moment nicht) und haben die Musik, die Punk- und Skinheadsubkultur und Trinken als gemeinsame Interessen.

 

Warum gerade der Name Antipati, seid Ihr Leute mit Vorurteilen?

Haben wir nicht alle irgendwelche Vorurteile? Nicht in jeder Hinsicht... aber wir versuchen immer eine offene Einstellung zu haben. Der Name bezieht sich darauf, Abneigungen zu haben und wer hat diese nicht in irgend einer Weise? Es ist generell ein Ausdruck gegen die Gesellschaft und den Weg, den diese geht.

 

Wie lange existiert Antipati nun?

Seit Beginn 2006, also etwas mehr als 2 Jahre.

 

Seid Ihr eine reine Skinheadband, oder als was würdet Ihr Euch bezeichnen?

Nein. Wir sind eine Mischung und bevorzugen es, für Punks und Skins zu spielen.

 

Ich denke, daß "On Repeat" Euer erstes Album ist, aber der Sound ist schon sehr professionell. Ist das Eure erste CD, spieltet Ihr vorher schon in anderen Bands?

"On Repeat" ist Antipati’s allererste Veröffentlichung, allerdings spielten wir vorher schon in vielen Bands. Ich war bei The Righteous Mitte/Ende der 90er und veröffentlichte ein Album mit der Band auf "TKO" im Jahre 2000. Dann waren Radar und ich bei Contemptuous, die eine Split mit Royal Stakeout auf "Kjell Hell" 2005 veröffentlichten und zur Zeit unseres Gespräches erscheint eine LP auf "Narayan Records". Pelle spielte in Bands wie The Contract und spielt nun noch mit seinem Bruder in einer Hardcoreband namens Doberman Cult, welche auf dem französischen Label "Mass Production" eine CD veröffentlichten. Johan war noch in keiner Band und hat auch nichts veröffentlicht (er ist noch sehr jung), aber er tourte längere Zeit mit einer Crusty Gore Band namens Headed For Desaster. Radar ist weiter in einer Band namens The Radars, welche Ska-Pop spielen.

 

Ich mag Eure Musik total, was auch an den großartigen Singalongs liegt. Erzählt mal etwas über die Reaktionen auf das Album.

Danke! Derzeit kam nichts Negatives und es läuft alles sehr gut. Ich las auch bisher keine schlechten Reviews, aber ich las auch bisher wenig Besprechungen von uns... Wir werden sehen, wie es live aussieht. Letztes Wochenende spielten wir in Göteburg auf einem großen Gig und es schien, als wenn jeder die Texte kannte.

 

Für alle, die Euch nicht kennen. Sagt mal etwas über Eure Lieder.

Wir wollen immer eine Mischung aus Melodie und Singalongs haben. Wir versuchen Texte zu schreiben, die nicht peinlich wirken. Andererseits sind es typische Oi!/Punksongs, in denen Gesellschaftskritik, Trinkgeschichten, Freundschaft, Punk-/Sinheadkultur, die harte und schöne Seite des Arbeitslebens eine Rolle spielt. Nichts besonderes halt.

 

Was gibt es in nächster Zeit von Euch?

Wir planen zwei Projekte... Das erste ist eine DIY-Split von drei Bands. Und zwar mit unseren Freunden von Frenzy Four und The Lowlifes, jede Band steuert 6 Lieder bei. Die zweite Sache ist eine 4 Gruppen umfassende Split auf einem neuen schwedischen Label mit Namen "Distroi! Records", wo neben uns noch eine Schwedenkombo und zwei italienische Bands drauf sein werden. Wir hoffen, daß wir alles im Sommer fertig geschrieben haben und dann alles für die Aufnahme geregelt ist.

 

Ich denke, daß Schweden neben England, Deutschland und Italien eine der größeren Szenen hat. Auch kommen großartige Bands aus Schweden. Welche ´Bands aus Schweden mögt Ihr und warum?

Schweden hat viele großartige Bands, aber vor Jahren gab es kaum Konzerte. Die Dinge scheinen sich nun zum besseren zu ändern. Dieses Jahr kommen Bands wie Bombardiers, Klasse Kriminale, Evil Conduct, Indecent Exposure, Bakers Dozen, The Business und The Analogs, um hier zu spielen. Dazu kommen all die tollen Schwedenbands. Man kann voller Zuversicht sagen, Schweden erhebt sich wieder, auf Oi! und Punk bezogen. Meine Favoriten aus Schweden, die noch aktiv sind, sind The Lowlifes. Aber ich mag auch Bands wie Royal Stakeout, Gatans Lag (die Demos), The Mockingbirds, Sinners Since Birth und The Disputes. Auch habe ich ein Auge auf neue und junge Bands wie Bad Shermans, Mitt Val, etc. Meine absolute Lieblingsband zu nennen, wenn wir über die Geschichte reden, wären zu viele. Aber alles aus den 70ern und 80ern, rauer Punk und später 80er Oi! wie Agent Bulldog.

 

Wie sieht es mit Konzerten und Treffen in Schweden aus? Habt Ihr Probleme, etwas auf die Beine zu stellen?

Das Problem in Stockholm, unsere Heimat, ist es, geeignete Lokalitäten für Konzerte zu finden, die auch bezahlbar sind. Vorher organisierten wir auch Gigs, nun fehlt uns aber ein geeigneter Veranstaltungsort. Es gibt ein paar Leute, die sowas hauptsächlich machen, wie der Club Destroi (GBG), PST (E-tuna/NKPG) und einige Festivals wie das "Capital Chaos" und "Rassle". Ich denke, das das schon genug ist... Punks und Skins hier sind nicht all zu viele. Probleme mit Veranstaltungen von Punks oder Skins gibt es so nicht, so denke ich zumindest.

 

Was ist mit Konzerten in Deutschland, hoffe, daß das bald mal möglich ist?

Ja, wir würden uns wirklich freuen, in Deutschland zu spielen.

 

Ihr könnt 5 Platten mit auf eine einsame Insel nehmen, welche sind das?

Das gilt nur für jetzt und nun, okay? ...Camera Silens – "Realité", Super Yob – "Quality Street", Oxymoron – "The Pack is Back", Asta Kask – "Aldrig en" LP, und wahrscheinlich Cock Sparrer - "Shock Troops".

 

Nennt mal die guten Seiten der Szene, aber auch die negativen.

Gute Dinge, so sehe ich es, ist die Musik, die Kameradschaft und all der Spaß. Man lernt Leute aus ganz Schweden und anderen Ländern kennen usw. Ich denke nicht so sehr an schlechte Seiten, vielleicht die politischen Wirrköpfe, wie Nazis und Rassisten, oder Dummzeugs wie RASH. Sie denken alle, sie hätten etwas mit Skinheads zu tun. Glücklicherweise gibt es nur einige WP-Skins hier in Schweden und keine RASH-Bewegung, so ist es schon okay.

Antipati (Sweden)

Please tell my readers how stand behind Antipati.

Antipati consist of Radar (Lead Guitar & Vocals), Robert (Guitar & Vocals), Pelle (Bass & Vocals) and Johan (Drums). We work for a living, are more or less married (not Pelle at the moment) and have music, punk- and skinhead subculture and drinking as common passions.

 

Why the name Antipati, are you men with prejudice?!?

Doesn’t we all have prejudices on different matters? Not in particular though… we try to be open minded. The name refers to disliking and you don’t have to have prejudices to hate some one, do you? It’s about a general hatred against society and the way it looks today.

 

How long exist Antipati now?

Since the beginning of 2006, so a bit more than two years.

 

Are you a pure Skinheadband, or what you say about Antipati?

No. We’re a mixtape. We prefer to play to both skinheads and punks.

 

I think "On repeat" are your first album but your sound is very professionell. Was it your first CD, plays you in other bands before?

"On Repeat" was Antipati’s first ever release, but we have played in many different bands before. I was in The Righteous in the mid/late 90’s and released an album with that band on TKO in 2000. After that, both me and Radar was in Contemptuous, that released a split CD with Royal Stakeout on "Kjell Hell" in 2005, and actually are having an LP coming out on "Narayan Records" as we speak. Pelle has been in bands like The Contract and is now playing with his brother in a successful hardcore band called Dobermann Cult that has released a CD on French label "Mass Production". Johan hasn’t been in any band that has released anything (he’s very young), but he gigged a lot with a crusty gore core band called Headed for Disaster. Radar is currently also in a band called The Radars that play some kind of ska pop.

 

I like your sound because it was fucking great and the songs have great singalongs. How was the reaction of your output?

Thanks! Actually it’s been very good. I haven’t read a bad review yet, but then again I haven’t read many reviews on it. But it seem to work live aswell. We played this weekend in Gothenburg in front of a great audience that seemed to know the lyrics quite well.

 

For all who don’t know your songs, tell a bit about your songs.

We try to keep it melodic and sing-a-longish. And we try to write lyrics that we wouldn’t be asahamed of. Otherwise, it’s your typical oi!/punk songs, with subjects on society, drinking, friendship, punk/skinhead culture, the hardships of love and working life. Nothing special, really.

 

What can we hear in nearest future?

We’re planning two projects… the first is a DIY released three band split with our mates in Frenzy Four and The Lowlifes, six songs each. The next is a four band split on a new Swedish label called "Distroi! Records" with two Italian bands and one Swedish. Hopefully, we’ll manage to write and record for these releases during the summer.

 

I think that Sweden have a big scene beside England, Germany and Italy in Europe. And some great bands come from Sweden. Which bands do you like from Sweden and why?

Sweden has many good bands, but for years we’ve had no gigs! Things are starting to look better now since a few years, and this year bands like Bombardiers, Klasse Kriminale, Evil Conduct, Indecent Exposure, Bakers Dozen, The Business and The Analogs are coming to play or have already played. Plus all the great Swedish bands, so I can honestly say, Sweden will rise again, oi!/punk music wise. My favourite Swedish bands that are active are The Lowlifes. I also like bands like Royal Stakeout, Gatans Lag (the demos), The Mockingbirds, Sinners Since Birth and The Disputes, and I keep an eye on new, young bands like Bad Shermans, Mitt Val, etc. My favourite bands if we’re talking historically, are too many to mension, but everything from 70’s bands to 80’s raw punk and late 80’s oi! heroes Agent Bulldogg.

 

How show it with concerts and meetings in Sweden? Have you problems to organize gigs or so?

The problem in Stockholm, where we live, is to find a venue for live music that is not too expencive. We organized gigs before, but now we have no place to be. Otherwise, there are a few "major" organizers, like Club Destroi (GBG), PST (E-tuna/NKPG) and a few festivals like Capital Chaos and Rassle. I guess it’s enough… the skins and punks are easily counted here. Problems with having skinhead or punk shows just because they attract skins and punks we have none. I think at least.

 

What’s about gigs in Germany, hope it was possible in future?

Yes, we’d really like to play Germany.

 

You can take five records to an lonely island. Which records are your faves and why?

This is just for now, OK?... Camera Silens – Realité, Super Yob – Quality Street, Oxymoron – The Pack is Back, Asta Kask – Aldrig en LP, and maybe Cock Sparrer – Shock Troops.

 

What are good things in the scene and what are the bad sides?

Good things I guess is the music, the comradeship, and all the fun. Knowing people from all over Sweden and many other countries and such. I don’t know of the bad sides… maybe the political nutters, like Nazis and racists, or stuff like RASH, that still think they have anything to do with skinheads. Luckily enough, there are hardly any WP skinheads in Sweden, and no RASH either, so we’re OK.
