Civico XX (Italien)

Heil, erzählt unseren Lesern mal bitte etwas über Eure Band (Besetzung, Geschichte usw.).

Nun, Civico XX starteten zu Beginn von 2001, die Band bestand zu dem Zeitpunkt aus drei Skins aus Varese und einem Kerl aus Mailand (Maurizio, Sänger von ADL 122). Wir begannen ein paar alte Skinheadsongs zu spielen, einige Monate später erschien dann die erste Demo-CD „Varese" und viele Leute hörten das Teil und waren begeistert. Nach dem Demo wechselte die Besetzung und setzt sich nun so zusammen: Stefano – Gesang, Guglie – Gitarre, Gavino – Rhytmusgitarre, Marco – Bass und Cioni – Schlagzeug (er kommt aus Bologna). Nach vielen Auftritten in unserer Heimat erschien im Februar vergangenen Jahres unser erstes Album „A way of life" mit 12 Stücken und wir hoffen, dass Ihr es mögt!

 

Ich für meinen Teil finde die CD mehr als gelungen und höre sie oft, da mir die Mischung aus Oi! und RAC sehr zusagt. Die italienischen Bands spielen ja meist eine gute Mischung aus Oi! und RAC und nicht den US-Hatecorestil. Gehen italienische Bands mehr, als Gruppen anderer Länder, zurück zu den Skinheadwurzeln?

Viele italienische Bands sind sehr durch den alten Skinheadsound beeinflusst worden (unsere Band, Armco, Sumbu Brothers, Legittima Offesa, Arrogants, Mannaz) und so hört man hier guten RAC-Oi!. Aber es gibt auch einige Bands hier, die härtere Musik spielen, welche Richtung Hardcore geht (Malnatt, SPQR, Bullets, Onda d´urto). Wir können aber behaupten, dass in unserem Land mehr Leute den alten Skinheadsound mögen, als andere europäische Nationen.

 

Euer Album „A way of life" ist großartig und ich höre die CD sehr oft, da ich die Mischung aus Oi! und RAC liebe, allerdings verstehe ich die italienischen Texte leider nicht. Bitte erzählt den Lesern und mir etwas über Eure Stücke.

Hier ein kleiner Ausriß... „Pregiudizi" erzählt von den Vorurteilen gegen unseren Weg des Lebens, „Varese" ist ein großartiges Lied über unsere tolle Stadt, „A way of life"..., muß ich dazu was sagen?!?, „Iraq belongs to me" ist eine verrückte Parodie eines genialen Cock Sparrer-Stückes, „Working class" ist ein Titel gegen unsere linken Parteien, „Burattino" handelt von Leuten, die jeden Tag in Diskos verbringen, „La mia rovina" ist ein Lied gegen die abgefuckten Bullen, „Patria" ist unserem geliebten Italien gewidmet, „Dubbi e certezze" erzählt von den schlechten Momenten, die wir durchmachen, „GSF" richtet sich gegen roten Abschaum, „Ribelli" erzählt von unserem Leben auf den Straßen und „Anche per te" ist unserem toten Kameraden Marco gewidmet.

 

Könnt Ihr für uns den Song „Iraq belongs to me" (einer meiner Lieblingstitel des Albums) übersetzen und uns sagen, was Ihr mit dem Stück ausdrücken wollt?

Dieses Lied ist geschrieben worden, um die Lächerlichkeit des Irakkrieges zu offenbaren, es ist ein Cover von Cock Sparrer. Der Text handelt von einem „Geschwätz" zwischen G.W. Bush und Saddam. Es ist auch ein Lied über die amerikanische Außenpolitik der letzten 20 Jahre. Du würdest die Übersetzung voraussichtlich nicht verstehen, weil das Stück in unserem eigenen Dialekt gesungen wird...

 

Vor und nach den Stücken hören wir den typischen Vinylsound (Knackgeräusche, das Auf- und Absetzen eines Plattentonarms). Was hat es damit auf sich, mögt Ihr das alte Vinyl?

Sicher, wir lieben das alte Vinyl. Jeder von uns ist verrückt nach diesen Dingen... Dass wir diese Geräusche vor und nach den Liedern auf CD brachten, ist als Dank an die alte Musik gedacht. In der Zukunft eine Single zu veröffentlichen ist ein großer Traum von uns.

 

Welche Bands beeinflussen Eure Musik und was hört Ihr privat?

Größtenteils liegen unsere Einflüsse beim alten Skinheadsound und traditionellen englischen Oi!. Wir lieben Cock Sparrer, 4 Skins, Business usw. und das hören wir letztendlich auch daheim. Unsere Einflüsse kommen aber auch durch eine großartige italienische Band namens ADL 122, unsere italienischen Favoriten auf ewig. Dazu müssen wir sagen, dass unser erster Schlagzeuger der Sänger von ADL 122 war und dadurch ist es sicher verständlich...

 

Auf Bildern Eurer CD sehen wir, dass Ihr Skinheads seid. In Deutschland und vielen anderen Ländern rennt der Mob eher wie Hardcoreposer rum. Was sagt Ihr zu dieser Entwicklung, Hatecore und dem alten Skinheadstil?

Oh ja, wir sind sehr traditionell und kleiden uns im alten Stil. Wir lieben Stretchjeans, hohe Stiefel, Ben Shermans und Hosenträger, weil wir der Meinung sind, diesen Stil wahren zu müssen, jetzt und in Zukunft. Letztendlich haben wir nichts gegen Hardcorer, aber es ist ein anderer Stil, als der unsere. Auch müssen wir sagen, dass zwei von uns (Gavino und Marco) total auf Hardcore stehen.

 

Euer Standpunkt zu Hatecore?

Dazu können wir sagen, dass Gavino, Guglie und Cioni Mitglieder der Hatecoreband Injustice Side sind und so sagen wir, dass wir auch diese Musik mögen. Wie auch immer, Ihr werdet hören, dass unser Sound absolut nicht vom Hatecore beeinflusst ist.

 

Euer Album „A way of life" ist mehr als gut. Geile Musik und eine sehr gute Aufmachung. Seid Ihr zufrieden mit der Zusammenarbeit mit „Barracuda Records"?

Wir sind total zufrieden was die Zusammenarbeit mit „Barracuda" betrifft. Gut, es gibt einige Lieder, die wir verändern würden oder besser machen würden, aber letzten Endes sind wir sehr zufrieden. Das können wir auch über „Barracuda Records" sagen, Gigi ist der richtige Mann für uns und macht großartige Arbeit. Die CD bekommt man in allen Teilen Europas und täglich bekommen wir Emails von überall her und jeder sagt, dass unsere Musik großartig ist. Das ist das Größte für uns!

Civico XX (Italy)

Hail, please tell our readers a bit about your band (lineup, history etc.).

Well, Civico XX start in early 2001 when 3 skins living in Varese and 1 guy from Milano (Maurizio, Adl122 voice) decided to try playing some old skinhead songs, some months later the first demo-cd "Varese" was out and many people start to hear our music. After this demo we changed line-up and now we are Stefano (Voice), Guglie (lead guitar), Gavino (rithmic guitar), Marco (Bass), Cioni (Drum, from Bologna).After many gigs around our nation, last february was out our first full-cd "A way of life" with 12 songs and we hope you’ll like it!

 

Most of Italian bands play a good mix from Oi! and RAC and not the US-Hatecorestyle. Go Italian groups more back to the Skinheadroots as bands from other countries?

Many italian bands are very influenced by old skinhead sound (Our band,Armco,Sumbu Brothers,Legittima offesa, Arrogants, Mannaz) and so here you can hear a good RAC-Oi! But also there are other band playing harder music, more close to hardcore (Malnatt, SPQR, Bullets, Onda d’urto), surely we can say that in our country there’s more people loving the old skinhead sound than other european nations.

 

Your CD "A way of life" are great and I hear the stuff often, because I like your style from Oi! And RAC, but I don´t understand your lyrics. Please tell me and our readers a bit about your songs.

We’ll do a little list...Pregiudizi talks about prejudice against our way of life, Varese is a great song about our great town, A way of life...have I to tell more?, Iraq belongs to me is a crazy pharody of the famous Cock Sparrer song, Working class is a song against our left-side party, Burattino talks about people going every day in a disco, La mia rovina is a song against fucking cops, Patria is for our loved Italy, Dubbi e certezze talks about bad moments we live some days, GSF is against red scum, Ribelli talks about our street life and Anche per te is dedicated to our dead comrade Marco.

 

Can you for us translate the song "Iraq belongs to me" (one of my favorites) and say why this song?

This song was written to joke on the Iraq war, it’s a cock sparrer cover and talks about a "chat" between G.Bush and Saddam, it’s also a song against the last 20 years USA foreign politic. You probably won’t understand the lyrics because this track is sung in our own dialect...

 

For and behind the songs we hear a sound from a typical-record. What happened with this, do you like the old Vinyl?

Surely, we love the old vinyl, someone of us is really crazy for this kind of things...

Putting this sound before and after our tracks we wanted to thanks the old music style, and make in future a single-vynil surely will be a dream for us.

 

What bands are influenced you and what sound did you hear at home?

We are really influenced by old skinhead sound and traditional english oi!, so we like very much Cock Sparrer, 4skins, Business etc., and finally this is what we hear more at home, but we was also influenced by a great italian band named ADL122, our italian favourite band of ever. Also we must say that our first drummer was the adl122 voice and so you can well understand...

 

On the pictures of your album we can see, that you are Skinheads. In Germany and most other countries, most of the crowd are now looks like Hardcoreposer. What say you about the evolution, Hatecore and the good old skinheadstyle?

Well, we are absolutely close to the old english style, we like stretch jeans, high boots, ben sherman and braces, because we thing we have to save our style now and in the future. Finally we haven’t nothing against hardcorer but we thing it’s a different style than our. We also must say that someone of us (Gavino and Marco) absolutely love hardcore music!

 

What is your statement about Hatecoremusic?

About this we can say that in the past Gavino, Guglie and Cioni were members of an italian hatecore band named "Injustice Side" and so we finally must say that we like this music, however you’ll hear that our sound isn’t absolutely influenced by hatecore or this kind of bands.

 

Your album "A way of life" is a very good CD, great music and a good artwork. Are you satisfied with your work and the work of "Barracuda-Records"?

We are absolutely satisfied of our work, of course there are some songs we like more and other less, but finally we are very happy. The same we can say about Barracuda records, Gigi was perfect with us and he made a great work. This cd really likes in every part of Europe and daily we receive email from everywhere talking about our good sound, this is the best thing for us!
